Step-by-Step Instructions for Red Velvet Bear Cookies
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream melted butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Add vanilla, vinegar, egg (or plant milk), and food coloring, mixing until blended.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  4. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and line baking trays with parchment paper.

  7. For bear ears, roll small pieces of dough into balls and press onto larger dough balls.
