Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper using your hands or a spatula. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 2-4 round patties, each about ½ inch thick, and set aside while you prepare to cook them.
  3. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the formed patties in the skillet, cooking them for 4-5 minutes on each side until nicely browned and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Once done, transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
  4. In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Gradually add the beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in the soy sauce and onion powder, allowing to simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  6. In a separate pan, heat a teaspoon of oil or butter. Crack in your eggs and cook them for about 3-4 minutes until the whites are set.
  7. To serve, place a generous portion of rice on each plate, top with a patty, pour the gravy over the patty, and finish with a fried egg.
