Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 500 grams Minced Beef Consider substituting with minced turkey for a lighter taste.
  • 1 medium Onion Shallots can be a milder replacement.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Mixed Herbs Feel free to use fresh herbs like rosemary.
For the Pastry
  • 500 grams Shortcrust Pastry Both homemade and store-bought options work well.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Tray
  • Round cutter
  • Pastry Brush

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather your ingredients and prepare your workspace.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine minced beef and finely chopped onion, seasoning with salt, pepper, and dried mixed herbs. Mix well for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the shortcrust pastry to a thickness of about 3mm. Cut out circles using a round cutter.
  4. Take one pastry circle and spoon approximately 2 tablespoons of the meat filling onto half of the circle. Leave a small margin around the edges.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together and crimping with a fork.
  6. Arrange the bridies on a parchment-lined baking tray. Beat an egg and brush it over the tops, cutting a small steam slit on each.
  7. Bake the bridies in your preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the bridies to cool on the tray for a few minutes before serving warm.
