Dough Preparation
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to froth for 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, then pour in the yeast mixture with olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Flour a clean surface and knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
- Lightly grease a bowl, place the dough inside, and let it rise covered in a warm area for 1-1.5 hours.
Filling and Baking
- Cook the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Add red onion and garlic, stir until softened.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place a pizza stone inside if using.
- Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a 12-inch circle, and lightly brush with olive oil.
- Spread the sausage mixture and crumbled feta cheese evenly over the dough.
- Transfer the pizza to the hot stone or baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Drizzle honey over the baked pizza and top with fresh basil. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing.
