  • 1 tbsp Flour Can replace with cornstarch or gluten-free blend.
  • 1/2 cup Brandy or Dry Sherry Replace with apple cider vinegar if needed.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Opt for vegetable or chicken broth for lighter flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Creme Fraiche Sour cream or Greek yogurt can be substitutes.
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix Consider a homemade blend for personal touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, grate half an onion and combine it with breadcrumbs and an egg. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix in ground sirloin, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and seasonings until just combined; form into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. Place meatballs on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes; then broil for 2-3 minutes to brown.
  5. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced cremini mushrooms for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Add a diced onion to mushrooms and cook until softened. Stir in more butter and flour, then deglaze with brandy.
  7. Gradually whisk in beef broth until the sauce is smooth.
  8. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and crème fraîche; add baked meatballs and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  9. Serve topped with fresh parsley over buttered egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
