Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, whisk together egg yolks, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and whole milk. Heat the mixture over low heat, continually whisking for about 8-10 minutes until it thickens and bubbles gently. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in salted butter and vanilla extract.
- Pour the vanilla pudding into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream with sifted matcha powder. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes.
- Take the chilled pudding and beat briefly until smooth. Gently fold in the matcha whipped cream. Layer the pudding mixture with sliced bananas and vanilla wafers in serving dishes.
- Cover the assembled pudding tightly and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight. Top with extra whipped cream, banana slices, and vanilla wafers before serving.

Notes
Allow ample chilling time for the pudding layers to meld and the vanilla wafers to soften—at least 4 hours, but overnight is ideal for best results.
