  • 1 cup Vegetable or Beef Broth Use vegetable broth for vegetarian.
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs Mix with melted butter for topping.

For the Topping
  • 1 cup Crispy Fried Onions Optional but recommended.

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Steam or blanch broccoli florets for 5-7 minutes until tender and vibrant green, then drain well.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté sliced onions for 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine broccoli, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and broth. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish.
  6. Mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole. Add fried onions if using.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden-brown on top.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
